Qualifications

In year one, you’ll achieve the following qualifications:

Performing Engineering Operations at NVQ Level 2

By studying a range of engineering subjects, you’ll develop the knowledge and practical skills to become a top-class technician.

BTec National Award in Engineering

Here you’ll receive further education in mathematics, science, and either electrical & electronic principles or mechanical engineering principles.

Institute of Leadership & Management (ILM) at Level 2

This is a great programme to help develop team building and leadership skills. Our training is focused on the team as well as the individual, providing you with the opportunity to grow the all-round ability to be a successful part of Network Rail.

In years two and three, you’ll work towards completing the NVQ Level 3 in Railway Engineering and receive supervisory training that can lead to your ILM Level 3 certificate in first line management. This is made up of a programme of rail-specific training courses, work experience and formal workplace assessments.
