Are you on the right tracks?

The right tracks quiz

By wanting to complete this quiz, you’ve already shown that you’re interested in what Network Rail is all about. Your inquisitive nature could be a real asset here, so we hope this will encourage you to think in more depth about what working with us would mean, and the sort of people we need to find.

Right tracks focuses on what drives you and what you really want to get out of your career. We know that different people are motivated by different things in the workplace: this quiz will help you think about your ambitions and how they ‘fit’ with our vision and values. Although we have many different graduate schemes, successful candidates share common qualities, so this quiz doesn’t focus on one particular programme. Instead, it looks at what gets our graduates out of bed in the morning, working in all types of weather and with all types of people, to provide a professional service to the public.

We want you to think about three things: whether this is the right place for you; whether you would be happy working with us to achieve our goals; and whether we could really get you fired up about your career. There’s no pass or fail to this quiz and it is not a part of our recruitment process. We’re simply giving you the opportunity to consider if we’re right for you and if you’re right for us, before any formal application or assessment process takes place.

Naturally, your results are confidential and we don’t store or use them in any way whatsoever. They are for you to take home with you, which means there’s no point in trying to give us the answers you think we’ll want to hear.

Instructions

You’ll be presented with a series of short statements and it’s entirely up to you to decide if you agree with the statement or not.

The right tracks quiz includes 52 statements, and while there is no time limit, we encourage you to go with your first answer.

You'll be asked to respond to statements similar to this one:

"I find that I am most effective when working on my own"

There is no right or wrong answer because you’re simply responding with how you feel about the statement. You are asked to rate how accurately it represents your approach to work, by selecting one of the following responses:

  • I strongly agree
  • I agree
  • I disagree
  • I strongly disagree

You’ll be given a summary of your responses to help you understand how your personal approach, needs and beliefs complement what we’re doing here at Network Rail.

Important - this quiz is not part of our formal assessment process and no selection decisions are made based on your results. We do not capture your results and cannot guarantee success at application stage or progression through to any part of our formal assessment if you complete this quiz. This process is designed to offer you a chance to consider your motivations and whether you share our values.
