Job Introduction

Mechanical and electrical locking fitters

 

We are the national specialists for mechanical and electrical locking.

  • We offer mechanical and electrical locking services to all routes, capital delivery, works delivery and across the wider railway industry.
  • We offer mechanical signalling maintenance and mechanical signal refurbishment and renewal support nationally and across the wider railway industry.

Main Responsibility

Arrange track access to support efficient delivery of maintenance and third party works in accordance with planning timescales. Produce and maintain the Possession Plan on behalf of the team.

  • Manage the application of all access and isolation requests for the team.
  • Produce and manage the Period Possession Plan on behalf of the team.
  • Optimise the use of possessions and isolations.
  • Submit possessions and Temporary Speed Restriction requests using the Possession Planning System (PPS).
  • Manage the possession change control process.
  • Process isolation requests and pass to the Isolation Planner.

The Ideal Candidate

The Ideal Candidate should have all the essential criteria below

 

  • Knowledge of access planning processes and systems
  • Detailed knowledge of relevant standards and procedures
  • Knowledge of maintenance processes and techniques
  • Knowledge of operational railway environment
  • Good geographical knowledge
  • Good interpersonal, communication and organisational skills

 

Desirable but not essential

  • Membership of a professional body

Package Description

Role:  Access Co-Ordinator

Salary: £30,000-£35,000 (Band 5)

Location: Nationwide

Contract Type: Permanent  

Interview Dates: TBC

About the Company

Who you would work for.

Engineering Services is a function within Route Services.  We sit as a central team to provide national skills and activities which enable regions and industry partners to deliver the railway for our customers. 

As a large central functional team which focus on engineering delivery, we have many roles from pure engineering to project management and touch every part of the railway from track, power, signalling to the lifts and escalators which are essential to keep our stations moving.  

Being multi-disciplinary means we have great opportunities to work in design, development or even the delivery of activities such as our own points operating equipment which move trains from one track to another up to 125mph.
