Business Systems Support Assistant

Job Introduction

 

Main Responsibility

As a Business Systems Support Assistant, you’ll provide professional, technical and operational support and guidance to the functions and key stakeholders of the multiple systems used across the business. Acting as a single point of contact for the logging of faults, queries and requests. Providing first-level service desk support, including investigation and resolution, striving to achieve a high level of fix at first point of contact.

To act as a subject area expert for all systems supported, ensuring that knowledge of the systems and business processes is shared, and first contact resolutions are applied to minimise service disruption. Work with other members of the Business Systems team and the service users in the operational use and development of the systems

What will you be doing?

  • Maintain integrity of reporting systems for all users and provide system administration with regard to access and security
  • Assist in the development of new systems and improve current systems as identified.
  • Develop and manage systems of feedback so that queries from the user community are logged and effectively dealt with.
  • Maintain a log of all systems, their purpose, requirements and users.
  • Assist the Business Systems Team in preparing the affected business areas for the transition to new ways of working when business systems are implemented or altered.
  • Assist in the identification and implementation of quality and efficiency improvement initiatives.

  • In-depth understanding of Network Rail’s operating and logistic processes.
  • Database design skills
  • Experience of developing management and reporting systems
  • Good knowledge and experience of internet / Intranet systems and development of web site
  • Good communication skills and a customer focussed approach

Package Description

Vacancy Type: Full-time but flexible working patterns will be considered.

Duration: 1x secondment/fixed term opportunity ending 31 December 2022 & 1x 6-month secondment/fixed term opportunity

This position is based in: Milton Keynes – The Quadrant

Closing date: 09 January 2022

Band & Salary: Band 5, £23,000 - £25,000
