Finance Business Partner
Job Introduction
You'll be joining the Financial Planning & Analysis team, which is part of the Finance and Business Support team which is part of Route Services. Your role involves supporting and challenging the Route Services functions that deliver services that are vital to the running of the railway, deliver the provision of services agreed by the routes to allow them to benefit from economies of scale and the optimisation of our critical resources.
The FP&A team offer business partnering insight, analysis, assurance, guidance and financial support to six primary functions; Business Services, Commercial and Procurement, IT Services & Telecoms, Supply Chain Operations, Engineering Services and Route Services HQ.
You will be supporting the Senior Finance Business Partner and the wider Financial Planning & Analysis team to deliver a first class business partnering service delivering the teams Service Offering to our functional customers as well as to our other internal and external stakeholders.
Main Responsibility
What will you be doing?
- Collation and challenge of periodic efficiency reporting through the NR fishbone reporting framework and embedding of the internal Route Services assurance framework
- Support the Senior Finance Business Partner acting as the intermediary between Group Finance and the functions for various topics acting as the face of Route Services providing routine and ad-hoc information as required to Group Finance
- Consolidation and narration of periodic / quarterly / annual functional returns required by Group Finance
- Support the Senior Finance Business Partner in assuring the balance sheet periodic submissions and collating various periodic reporting for submission to Group
- Conduct periodic and quarterly assurance checks and reviews across key risk areas
- Support the Senior Finance Business Partner in the coordination and delivery of the rolling forecast process across Route Services
- Provide an analysis service to our functions on emerging issues providing advice and guidance on issue resolution
- Support the identification of financial risks and opportunities across our functions working with the leads in each function to enable informed decision making by the function
- Engage and influence senior members of the team to help them understand their financial position and use professional expertise to guide in initiatives to improve business performance
- Drive business improvement across Opex, Capex and Headcount processes within Route Services working in partnership with functions to deliver process efficiencies and drive consistency across them
- Building of ad-hoc models when required using advanced excel skills and PowerBI to streamline and automate repeated processes across Route Services
- Support the Senior Finance Business Partner in collation of reporting packs in PowerPoint for presentations to senior management covering emerging issues

Essential
- Strong business partnering skills and stakeholder management experience
- Attention to detail and able to move from granular level information to high level easily
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills ideally with experience of dealing with different levels within an organisation
- Excellent organisation skills and able to deliver to deadlines consistently and manage multiple often competing priorities
- Advanced excel skills with ability to work with large datasets
- Ability to interpret data and articulate the key messages from it
- Demonstrable effective influencing skills
- Experience of leading / working on continuous improvement projects
- Demonstrate strong understanding of business needs and relevant application of accounting standards
- Membership (Or working towards a membership) of a relevant accounting body (CIMA/ACCA) or equivalent experience
- Significant experience within relevant finance disciplines
- Strong excel skills and use of data manipulation
- Ability to interpret technical accounting regulations into everyday language
- Significant understanding of financial control and risk
- Experience of Oracle based systems
Desirable
- Strong PowerBI skills and experience of building complicated high volume data models
- Extensive experience of Oracle based systems
- Degree or equivalent qualification in finance and accounting or business management or experience

Vacancy Type: Full-time but flexible working patterns will be considered.
Duration: 2 positions available, 1 Permanent & 1, 12 month FTC
