Senior Technical Operations Developer

As a Senior Technical Operations Developer you will work within a well-respected team to support and develop the Network Rail Geographical Information Systems platform which includes the following technologies: ESRI(ArcGIS Enterprise), VertiGIS (VertiGIS Studio, Workflow, Printing), FME (Flow and Forms). Azure experience is welcomed to help support the future technological fitness of the platform.

Main Responsibility

To design, develop and maintain customisations and extensions in the Geographical Information Systems (GIS) platform.

What will you be doing?

  • To design, develop and maintain customisations and extensions in the Geographical Information Systems (GIS) platform as required by project and production support teams
  • Analyse and tune existing customisations and provide supporting documentation that is accurate and conforms to Network Rail Standards
  • Assess the impact of patches and technical upgrades upon customised code and provide solution options
  • Resolve support issues within the production environment as required
  • Identify and develop code to be used in a common code library.
  • Provide technical advice and consultancy to IM and the business

The Ideal Candidate

Essential

  • Development and implementation experience in the in the Geographical Information Systems (GIS) platform
  • Strong design skills; works closely with analysts and technical support team to explore different technical design approaches and make design recommendations to fit high-level business requirements
  • Ability to manage activities with short due dates while still following established change control processes
  • Excellent communication skills, verbal, written and presentation.
  • Identified Subject Matter Expert within a technical area of expertise

  • Ability to prioritise and manage time effectively

Package Description

Vacancy type:  Permanent, 35 hours per week, Hybrid working of 2/3 days in the office. We welcome applications from those seeking flexible or part time hours.

Location: Manchester Square One or The Quadrant, Milton Keynes
