Senior Testing Engineer [Signalling]

Job Introduction

Technical Services provides the regions, routes, central functions and industry with specialist engineering, asset management, systems analysis and modelling.

We have an exciting role within the Signal Works Test & Delivery Team to lead and direct the team on signal works testing activities – a fabulous opportunity for the right candidate!

Main Responsibility

You will lead the management of Network Rail’s Testing Engineering staff in the testing, verification, validation and final commissioning of the projects in the delegated portfolio to achieve the company programme for project delivery of signalling equipment - both trackside and train borne - ensuring compliance with the signalling testing and commissioning standards and procedures. Manage the process of acceptance of the signalling systems safely into service and ensure their compliance with the group and company standards in time to achieve the company programme.

As part of testing and commissioning process, you will identify and promote non-compliance applications for acceptance, review and recommend the closure of deferred test logs, and provide relevant inputs into project close out reports. Occasionally you will also be involved in investigations of incidents requiring your expertise and guidance.

This role can is based in Glasgow George House and supports the Scotland region.

The Ideal Candidate

What essential skills and experiences are required?

•           Hold IRSE licence category 1.3.190 Tester in Charge or 1.3.180 Principles Tester or demonstrate working towards within next 12 months

•           Extensive knowledge of signalling equipment, principles, systems and processes

•           A sound knowledge of Signalling Design and Testing and Commissioning procedures and standards

•           Knowledge of Health and Safety legislation and best practice

•           Good written and oral skills

 

We would also like, but not essential.

•           Incorporated Engineer

•           Corporate Member of IRSE

•           Hold A1 Assessor qualification, or capable of achieving within one year

Salary: Network Rail adheres to a structured pay framework, any salary offered will be within the following pay range: £51156 - £57551
