Sourcing Specialist

Job Introduction

This role is in our Technology Sourcing team which sits within the Route Services Commercial and Procurement function and manages the sourcing of services and goods for; Information Technology, Research and Development, Telecoms and Intelligent Infrastructure. You will be working to source commercial solutions across a range of Technology  categories, ensuring value for money is achieved through applying your commercial expertise and interpersonal skills. You will also be required to work in accordance with public sector procurement regulations. This role provides opportunities for a varied workload, and would suit an individual seeking new challenges.

The technology team is an open, dynamic, and supportive team where individuals are supported and encouraged to learn, grow and have fun.  If you choose, you will also have the opportunity to be involved in forums and groups (e.g. mental health, EDI and neurodiversity) where you can get involved in the discussion, share your experiences and help shape our social fabric.

To succeed in this role, you will need:

  • A willingness to grow through exposure to new categories and the willingness take on new challenges
  • A desire to learn and a commitment to proactive personal development.
  • Experience in developing and implementing sourcing strategies using a structured sourcing process, aligned to business needs and objectives
  • Strong interpersonal skills to support stakeholder management and cross-functional working
  • Aptitude for commercial problem solving in the context of a large and complex organisation

Main Responsibility

Through the development and management of the sourcing process, from business requirement to contract signature, you will manage Technology sourcing activities concerning medium cost/risk opportunities.

Collaboration and customer service are key drivers to success in creating and delivering commercial and contractual value on behalf of the organisation, in line with government legislation. Your role will exist as part of an overall contract lifecycle of management and delivery that facilitates transition from Category Strategy (defined by Category Management Team) through to Strategic Supplier Management (managed by Supplier Management team). Through application of the Sourcing Framework, you will work with your Commercial & Procurement colleagues to ensure Group-wide commercial value and tangible improvements to passengers/freight users.

Location: Nationwide, hybrid working with a minimum of 2 days in Milton Keynes (as below address) per week.
