Workforce Development Specialist (Electrification/ Distribution and Plant)

Job Introduction

You will deliver essentialElectrification/ Distribution and Plant technical skills training to our frontline maintenance workforceand support with the evaluation of courses, monitoring impact and making recommendations for improvement.

This training is vital, our workforce must maintain exceptional standards of competency and safety to deliver day to day maintenance work, putting our passengers first and making sure everyone gets home safe every day. Youll need comprehensive knowledge in Electrification/ Distribution and Plant.

You will deliver high-quality, inspirational, technical, safety and vocational training that is stimulating and engaging. Each training course will differ, ranging from one day to a few weeks, you will use various tools, resources and methods, delivering classroom and field-based training.

Where required you will attend a 2-week train the trainer course and work towards a NVQ level 3-5 and TAQA (training assessment and quality assurance) qualification paid for by Network Rail.

*Some travel may be required to deliver courses in local delivery units and to enable you to upskill*

It is essential for this role that applicants have experience delivering training and/or have extensive Railway Signalling & Telecoms knowledge/experience.

Our network of qualified trainers use their hands-on rail experience to deliver industry leading skills, operations and leadership training locally and through our dedicated development centres.

Main Responsibility

  • Motivate and inspire delegates by delivering engaging, stimulating, safety centric training.
  • Use blended delivery skills (paced for the learner) and stimulating, high quality material in accordance with Network Rail standards, regulations & working instructions.
  • Comply with safety procedures, actively promoting our behaviours, values, processes, policies and corporate messages, ensure safety awareness at all times and lead by example.
  • Focus on the welfare of delegates and create a positive environment.
  • Continuously monitor and develop your own technical and educational proficiencies, taking an active part in Content Review Groups and Skills Forums
  • Develop and improve training and assessment materials, along with aids, documentation and equipment.
  • Assess both the capabilities of delegates and the impact of training, assist the Technical Training Delivery Manager in identifying and evaluating trends in performance and value.
  • Positively contribute to the continuous improvement of the training, support the Training Delivery Manager to analyse programme design, evaluation, team dynamics, centre performance and reputation.

You will be required to travel for upskilling and you will need to have a valid full UK driving licence

What Are My Working Hours?

Normal office hours, Monday to Friday.

Whats the local area like?

You will be required to live within a communicable distance to your office location. You will be require to travel to other NR locations when needed and for upskilling.

The Ideal Candidate

  • Must haveRailway Signal maintenance experience
  • Comprehensive knowledge and experience of Electrification/ Distribution and Plant.
  • Excellent communication skills (written and verbal
  • City & Guilds - 236, 2360, 2330, 2365 or 2357,
  • BTEC - Level 3 Diploma in Electrical/Electronic Engineering or Electrical Installation, EAL - Level 3 Diploma in Electrical/Electronic Engineering or Electrical Installation

A technical certificate, NVQ or diploma completed in domestic electrical installation work is not suitable.

Role:Workforce Development Specialist (Electrification/ Distribution and Plant)

Location: Peterborough Training Centre, PE3 6DW

Contract Type:Permanent

Salary range:Band 4C 43,588 - 49,037 plus 5k market rate supplement (subject to review)

Interviews:Interviews will be held face to face from 22/4. During the interview you will be asked technical questions.

***This role is safety critical****

All prospective external candidates offered a conditional role will be required to undergo and pass a drugs and alcohol test. Your application will be rescinded if you record a positive test. All positive drugs and alcohol test results for prospective candidates will be securely held on Sentinel database and a 5 year suspension from applying for a safety critical role, a role which requires PTS certification or a Key Safety role on Network Rail Managed Infrastructure will be enforced.
