Apprentice - SCO TRS and Plant

An exciting opportunity for all budding Engineers, an apprenticeship in Traction and Rolling Stock Engineering.

You will be working in Fleet and Engineering and will be trained in all aspects of maintenance and repairs of Network Rail's fleets of on-track machines and other traction & rolling stock and plant assets.

The first year will consist of off the job training, attending college you will gain the foundation skills that you will build on in successive years.  You will then join the maintenance teams and learn your craft whilst attending college on a day or block release basis.

The Ideal Candidate

Will have experience in the following:

Essential Criteria

  • You must be 18 years or over and have a minimum of 4 GCSE's (or equivalent) at grade 5 or above including Maths, English and Science
  • You must be able to drive, to be able to work at depots and locations nationwide that are not accessible by public transport
  • You must be able to attend college in Derby in your first year, ideally living locally
  • You will be attending Learning Unlimited College Derby, Full time, 5 days a week in year one.
  • You must be prepared to start college from 30 August 2022 in Derby.

There are 2 positions which are based in Derby in Year 1, and then based in nationwide locations as required.

Salary range:

Year 1 salary is £10,034 per annum

An additional payment of £1,305pa on successful completion of your first-year objectives. (Subject to change)

You will receive an uplift to your salary in years 2 and 3 of your Apprenticeship Scheme.

This will be notified to you on the conclusion of year 1 and year 2 of your Apprenticeship Scheme. (Subject to change)

Year 2 -    Age 18 – 20 years      £13,050 per annum

                 Age 21 – 24 years     £13,986 per annum

                 Age 25 + years          £14,805 per annum

Year 3 -    £15,479 per annum

35 hours per week
