Senior Technical Operations Developer

This role sits within the Tech Ops Bi team which supports and maintains the ETLs (Extract, Transform, Load), reporting databases and data warehouses, data aggregation and visualisation across a range of enterprise technologies, both datacentre and cloud-hosted. 

The team comprises of BI developers and support analysts based in Manchester and Milton Keynes, who maintain, upgrade and enhance Network Rail’s key operational reporting systems. 

We are looking to recruit for a person to optimize and enhance the existing Informatica workflows and mappings for improved performance, with a view to future transformations and integrations in the Azure Data factory pipelines

Aspects of the role include - 

  • Optimizing and enhancing existing Informatica workflows and mappings for improved performance.
  • Implement data security and compliance measures, ensuring the protection of sensitive and personally identifiable information.
  • Implement data integration patterns, data transformation techniques, and ETL/ELT processes.
  • Optimizing and enhancing Oracle SQL and database concepts for data querying and manipulation.
  • Familiarity in Azure Data Factory pipelines for future transformation and integrations.

Main Responsibility

To design, develop and maintain customisations and extensions to supported applications.

What will you be doing?

  • To design, develop and maintain customisations and extensions to the supported applications as required by project and production support teams
  • Analyse and tune existing customisations and provide supporting documentation that is accurate and conforms to Network Rail Standards
  • Assess the impact of patches and technical upgrades upon customised code and provide solution options
  • Resolve support issues within the production environment as required
  • Identify and develop code to be used in a common code library.
  • Provide technical advice and consultancy to IM and the business

The Ideal Candidate

Essential

  • Development and implementation experience in the application / technology supported
  • Strong design skills; works closely with analysts and technical support team to explore different technical design approaches and make design recommendations to fit high-level business requirements
  • Ability to manage activities with short due dates while still following established change control processes
  • Excellent communication skills, verbal, written and presentation.
  • Identified Subject Matter Expert within a technical area of expertise (for example, middleware, oracle, Microsoft, mobile, ERP, Java etc.)

  • Understanding of project lifecycles
  • Commitment to meeting deadlines
  • Ability to prioritise and manage time effectively

Package Description

 

Vacancy type:  Permanent, 35 hours per week, Hybrid working of 2/3 days in the office. We welcome applications from those seeking flexible or part time hours.

Location: Flexible location, Manchester Square One or The Quadrant Milton Keynes 

Closing date: 5th April 2024

Interviews will take place W/C 15th /  22nd April 2024, these will be held Face to Face in either Manchester or Milton Keynes 

Band & Salary: Band 4C (£43,588 - £49,037)
